Second opinion

Dental implant second opinion in Italy

A clear, non-promotional review of the plan you already have

Have you already received a dental implant treatment plan and would like to understand it better?

At Studio Dentistico Cimmino, patients can request a second opinion for dental implants, full-arch rehabilitation and fixed teeth on implants in our Rome or Salerno offices.

We review the clinical situation, existing X-rays or CBCT scans, proposed treatment options and maintenance plan with a clear, non-promotional approach.

Why ask for a second opinion?

A second opinion may be useful when:

  • the treatment plan is not clear
  • several implants have been proposed and you want to understand why
  • you have been told that fixed teeth can be delivered very quickly
  • you are unsure about the type of prosthesis
  • you have an unstable removable denture
  • you received different opinions from different clinics
  • you want to understand risks, limits and maintenance before deciding

A second opinion does not mean that the first plan is wrong. It means that the patient wants to understand the diagnosis and the options before making an important decision.

What we evaluate

During a second-opinion consultation, the dentist may evaluate:

  • clinical history
  • current symptoms or concerns
  • existing teeth
  • gum condition
  • bone availability
  • previous X-rays or CBCT scans
  • proposed implant number and position
  • type of prosthesis
  • immediate loading indications
  • hygiene and maintenance plan
  • possible alternatives

If existing documentation is not sufficient, further examinations may be recommended.

Immediate loading and full-arch treatment

Many second-opinion requests involve immediate loading or full-arch rehabilitation.

Immediate loading may be evaluated when implants are connected to a prosthesis in occlusion within 72 hours, in selected cases. This requires favourable clinical conditions and careful planning.

If these conditions are not present, it may be safer to follow a staged treatment plan. The purpose of the second opinion is to understand whether the proposed timing and prosthetic solution are coherent with the clinical situation.

What to bring

If available, please bring:

  • panoramic X-ray
  • CBCT scan
  • previous treatment plans
  • written estimates
  • medication list
  • medical history information
  • photographs or documents related to previous treatments

You can still request a consultation even if you do not have all these documents. The visit helps determine what information is missing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request a second opinion if I already have a treatment plan?

Yes. You can bring the treatment plan, X-rays, CBCT scans or written estimates already received.

Does a second opinion mean the previous dentist was wrong?

No. A second opinion is simply a way to better understand diagnosis, options and possible alternatives.

Can you review a CBCT scan?

If you already have a CBCT scan, you can bring it to the appointment. The dentist will evaluate whether it is sufficient or whether further examinations are needed.

Can you tell me if immediate loading is possible?

Immediate loading can be discussed only after clinical and radiographic evaluation.

Is the consultation available in English?

Yes. English-speaking patients can request a consultation in the Rome or Salerno office.
